Catfacts to Impress your Friends

In the 1960s, many police forces drove fleets of Mark 2 Jaguars as this was the only way that they could catch up with the bank robbers. The Mark 2 driven by Inspector Morse is a 2.4 litre car, the smallest version of the engine. Our cars are 3.4 litre models, which means not only that we could outrun him, but that undoubtedly our dads could beat his dad in a fight. The engine in the XJ6 (XJ40) is probably the finest version of the 'straight six' engine that Jaguar ever made. Tip:If using this fact in conversation, try dropping in an 'of course' at the beginning of your statement. It will ensure that your position is beyond challenge. Over the years some people, including some without beards and comb-overs, have suggested that the later Mark 2 240 and 340 models were in some ways lesser cars than the early examples. We would advise against standing downwind of anyone who genuinely believes this as they will almost certainly smell. No modern car, and the Mark 2 is definitely a 'modern car', has seen eleven years of production without some changes to the standard spec. In 1967, Jaguar made some luxury features of the model which had been standard equipment, optional. Note the word 'optional'. Not even the Special Edition of the Oxford English Dictionary for Super-Brainy People with Particularly Enormous Foreheads includes 'unavailable' as a definition of this word. What Jaguar also did, was make certain modifications to the engine so that acceleration, fuel consumption and cooling all improved. So it would seem that the argument is that making a car faster, more economical and less likely to park its occupants on the side of a road in a cloud of steam was in some way a retrograde step. Er . . . . . yep!
