3.2 Litre Jaguar XJ8
So what can we tell you about this beauty?
In 1994, Jaguar launched a successor to the XJ6 (XJ40) models which had been in production since 1986. The new XJ6/XJ12 series saw a return to the flowing body curves which had been so much a feature of previous generations of Jaguars and were thus something of a 'back-to-basics' approach after the straight lines of the outgoing models. For all the external and internal changes however, these cars were always something of a warm-up act to the main event which came in 1997 with the launch of the XJ8.
For the first time in decades, a Jaguar saloon car did not feature the straight-six engine, the new vehicles instead taking their power from a magnificent V8. Hugely successful, the range remained in production until 2002, when it stepped aside to make way for the current XJ range.
Our XJ8 is painted a magnificent shade of deep purple, Amaranth, and now bears the JIL 8086 number plates formerly fitted to our 1988 XJ6. Trimmed throughout in leather with walnut veneer the car's interior is the ultimate in luxury and ice-cold air conditioning makes it an ideal choice for anyone concerned that their big day might be on the warm side.
